Children come to The Children’s Village at Christian City residential program struggling to make sense of a childhood gone terribly wrong. Abused, abandoned and crushed in spirit, they long for a reason to smile again.
The Host Program (child mentoring) is a special tool to help restore and encourage these kids. The program supplements the loving care our children receive at the Children’s Village with even more healthy, warm, and functional family experiences…within the safety of an approved host family.
The Host Program offers personal contact with a child on a regularly scheduled basis. Host families act as a resource for children who could benefit from additional family interaction apart from their home at The Children’s Village.
Prerequisites to be enrolled as a Host family include the following:
- Minimum age of 25 years
- Attendance and commitment to a local church body
- Personal and church-related references
- Personal interviews
- Successfully passing a criminal records background check for all adult members of a Host family
