Christian City Arts Alliance Hosts “Coffee & Classics” Events

Union City – Last month, the first in a series of Coffee & Classics events at Christian City was well attended by residents and guests. The evening, hosted by The Christian City Arts Alliance, included live music performed by vocalists and the Peachtree Pops String Quintet. Gourmet coffee and desserts were served to patrons of the arts who filled the Welcome Center.

The response was overwhelmingly positive, as represented by these quotes from attendees: “A highly entertaining first time event. Coffee & Classics at Christian City is a real arts dream come true!” and “Coffee & Classics made my heart leap…I could not hold back the tears. Simply beautiful!” This month, the second event in the series will be held from 5:30 – 7:00 pm on Thursday evening, July 24 at the Welcome Center. Guests can once again enjoy live music performed by the Peachtree Pops String Quintet and vocalists.

Refreshments will be a light gourmet meal served as the evening begins. RSVPs are requested for residents of Christian City and their guests. “Coffee & Classics is designed to bring all of our campus, friends, and relatives together to share in a ‘red carpet moment’. As we enjoy symphony-level entertainment with great food and coffee, we also have a chance to share some quality time together,” explains Ken White, Resident Relations Director at Christian City. “It’s a must-see event that promises to be an enjoyable evening for all!”

Union City – Volunteers and staff gathered recently on the campus of The Children’s Village at Christian City for this year’s “Chair-ity Event” kick-off meeting. Plans are already underway for this annual holiday fundraiser, now in its 8th year. Proceeds from the event support the abandoned, abused, and otherwise homeless children who live in the cottages at The Children’s Village. “Last year we raised over $79,000 dollars for our kids, and this year we’re hoping to raise even more,” said Ashley Bonner, Christian City’s Fund Development Specialist.

Hosted by dedicated volunteers, community leaders, and the local arts community, this year’s Chair-ity Event will be held from 5:30 – 7:30pm on Thursday, December 4th at The Dolce Atlanta-Peachtree in Peachtree City. Tickets are $25 in advance, and can be purchased online at www.christiancity.org. Dress is casual for this drop-in event and ticket prices cover both food and drink. “We hope you’ll stop by for delicious hors d’oeuvres and refreshments, a live performance by the Peachtree Pops Jazz Ensemble, and some holiday shopping in our magical Winter Wonderland setting,” says Bonner. “It’s a great place to find something for that special someone on your list.” This year’s silent auction will include donated items such as getaway trips, themed baskets, collectibles, and more.

Local artists, plus the children at The Children’s Village, are already working on handcrafted, one-of-a-kind chairs which are always the highlight of the “Chair-ity” event. “We’re so lucky to have such a great group of hosts, volunteers, and artists who are already working hard to help make this year’s event, the best one yet. Our kids are truly blessed to have such amazing support,” said Bonner. For more information, or to find out about becoming a sponsor for this year’s event, contact Ashley Bonner at 678-466-1093.

Pinnacle Credit Union Donates to The Children’s Village at Christian City

Union City – This year’s “Community Challenge Campaign” sponsored by The Pinnacle Credit Union (PCU), raised funds for displaced children while helping clients save on loan interest rates and fees. “This was WIN-WIN-WIN for everyone!” says Cynthia Nesbitt, Marketing Manager for Pinnacle. The majority of savings came as members refinanced auto loans and credit card debt or transferred mortgages from other financial institutions. Recently, Nesbitt paid a visit to the Christian City campus to present a $2,500 check to The Children’s Village. The funds will help provide for the ongoing needs of children who have been abandoned, abused, or neglected. “This was a very successful campaign – a great savings opportunity for members of PCU and additional funds for The Children’s Village,” added Nesbitt. Christian City is a 501(c)3 non-profit located at 7345 Red Oak Drive in Union City. The 500-acre campus is home to a full continuum of care for seniors including multiple housing options, a nursing and rehab center, and an Alzheimer’s unit.
