Daniel C. Langford

Controller, Christian City, Inc.

Dan is responsible for all aspects of Christian City’s finances, from budgeting to spending & receiving, to accounting, and to reporting and compliance.

Dan became controller of Christian City on November 29. In that role he is responsible for stewardship of the organization’s resources, for tracking and recording those resources accurately, and for reporting on them. A CPA with thirty-five years’ experience, he spent eighteen of those years with an international accounting firm in Atlanta, six of them with a development and building company, and eleven as a chief financial officer in two different private schools. He is excited to be at Christian City because of the fine reputation the organization enjoys in the region, because of the strong financial position many years of steady leadership has provided for the organization, and because in many ways, it feels almost like a homecoming to him – his paternal grandmother, the late Kathryn Langford of Brooks, was heavily involved in volunteer work at Christian City from about the mid-1970s to the early 1980s, and as such, he has been admirer of Christian City’s works and mission since he was a boy.

Dan, a proud alumnus of the University of Georgia (BBA 1985; MAcc 1986), has been married to the former Lesley Derrick since January 1989. They live on the family timber farm in Brooks, where they reared their two grown sons. Dan serves as pianist at Brooks UMC (where Lesley is pastor), is a trustee of the Coweta-Fayette Electric Membership Cooperative, of Progressive Healthcare Providers, and of the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce. A 1999 Leadership Fayette graduate, he has served as mayor of Brooks since 2010, having recently been sworn-in for his fourth term. He and Lesley have three dogs who shower them with love, loyalty, and dog hair, and a two-year-old grandson, Rhett, who has led them joyfully into the wonders of grandparenthood.
