Nonprofit: Westside Future Fund

Westside Future Fund is an organization of Atlanta community leaders who believe in the revitalization of the Westside community, specifically Vine City, Ashview Heights, English Avenue and the AUC neighborhoods. These neighborhoods were once a thriving part of Atlanta, on the forefront of the civil rights movement and home to many of its leaders. Together with Chick-fil-A, it is apparent that the Westside Future Fund appreciates the rich history of the area and sees an opportunity for philanthropic efforts to spur growth.
The true grassroots approach implemented by the Westside Future Fund has fostered valuable relationships that are needed within the community. The Westside Future Fund continuously carries out its work, despite the community’s current economic state, resulting in major improvements for the area. The various programs have led to a 43 percent reduction in crime and, because of specialized training for people in these neighborhoods, the community has brought in over $16.2 million in wages.
The ongoing programs, in addition to the millions of dollars raised to help revitalize this community, highlight the pure acts of service this organization does for the community.
Corporate: Delta Air Lines, Inc.
Click Here to watch a video about Delta
Delta Air Lines has committed over 50 years of engagement and generous giving of time and service to the Atlanta community and beyond. Their efforts in advancing education, supporting organizations committed to global health, and aiding service members and veterans only begin to scratch the surface of this company’s involvement with the community. Beginning in 2016, Delta Air Lines committed to annually giving one percent of its net profits to charitable organizations and as of April 1, 2019, Delta Air Lines employees are now paid to take a day off to volunteer with a nonprofit of their choice. This resulted in over $50 million in community giving for 2018 and an estimated 640,000 additional volunteer hours by Delta Air Lines employees for 2019.
Specifically, Delta Air Lines began its relationship with Christian City in 1972 by building the Children’s Village cottage. Delta Air Lines has made a positive impact on several Christian City children over the years, as many have been trained and given jobs that they still hold today. At Christian City, this corporation spreads Christmas cheer each holiday season for the Christian City youth. The annual Christmas party at the Delta Flight Museum is always accompanied with games, food, Santa Claus, gifts and notable members of both the Atlanta Hawks and the Atlanta Braves. In the spring of 2019, volunteers from the Delta Tech Ops division completed a renovation of the original 1972 cottage into two apartments for use by families served by our Children and Family programs and senior residents.
The ongoing leadership and significant contributions Delta Air Lines and the dedicated staff have made to Christian City, the countless organizations in Atlanta and worldwide organizations year after year demonstrate this company’s commitment to their home and its community.
