Union City, Ga – Leonard Romano, Sr. was named President/CEO of Christian City on December 1, 2015. Robert Crutchfield has retired after more than 22 years leading Christian City, a conglomerate of 501(c)3 non-profit corporations located near Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
Mr. Romano’s 38-year career with YMCA began in his hometown of Washington, DC, when he joined the program staff while working his way through college. He advanced within the organization, serving as CEO in Connecticut and Denver prior to taking the helm at YMCA of Greater Omaha in 2011. Mr. Romano and his wife, Jana, have been married for 25 years and have two adult sons.
The Board of Trustees search committee selected Mr. Romano from among hundreds of nationwide applicants for the CEO post. “Len is uniquely qualified to assume the responsibilities of the complex and multi-disciplinary functions of Christian City in that he has great experience as well as an MBA in marketing and a Master’s of Divinity degree,” said Michael Johnston, Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
Since 1965, Christian City has offered life services and a safe haven for children in crisis, aged 5-17, the majority of which come to The Children’s Village as victims of abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Christian City offers them a welcoming home environment, loving house parents, and an opportunity to heal and grow.
The 500-acre Christian City campus is also home to a full continuum of care for senior adults including multiple affordable housing options, assisted living, a nursing and rehab center, Alzheimer’s/dementia-care unit, and home health care services. Nearly 1,000 residents live on the campus today. For more information, visit www.christiancity.org, or call 770-703-2636.
